When I work with any production team, whether it’s a huge corporate event or a nonprofit project, my vision for those projects is clear: “Create cohesive teams while delivering amazing productions.” I love producing live theatre, original videos, art installations. I love show directing live events and innovating with teams on new projects. But my vocation as a creative producer has always been about the people I work with. Implementing strategic choices that foster team development is vital to the success of any project. When you collaborate, you build relationships. Effective listening is the key that can unlock the passion, and purpose of your colleagues. Even something as simple as offering a cup of cold water and open conversation goes a long way in building trust. You can’t control circumstances; you can only control how you respond to them. But you can practice being open to lead your team when they respond to circumstances outside of their control. Yes, you know in your gut you are going to make the deadline, but you work to ensure your team finishes strong so everyone can celebrate the victory.
